"The residents of Colchester are angry and frustrated at the state of our roads in our town.

From the Ivory Tower in Chelmsford, Essex Highways dictates what happens, where it happens and when. Imposing its will on the residents of Colchester with no consultation.

Any residents try to reach out to Essex Highways with comments or concerns are simply ignored. It's not just the public that they ignore they also ignore the wishes of Colchester Borough Council, the very people elected to serve our town."

I work in planning for a local authority in the south east. We're currently struggling to meet our targets for affordable housing largely because there simply isn't the infrastructure to accommodate large-scale development. The government's proposals to modify the standard method for housing target nearly doubles what we're meant to be building. This is back-of-a-fag-packet rubbish.

I live in a rural area, and don't have a problem with expansion. The trouble is the infrastructure isn't there to support it.

My village has no footpaths, no shops, no bus or train service, but keeps expanding.

What they seem to want to do is make villages into towns without the benefit of the facilities that a town has.

@DavidFinbarr - our small town has grown something like 20% in the past years. We're not seeing investment in infrastructure at all.

It has been announced that our river quality is poor because the sewers are overflowing too often. Yet we add houses without adding sewage capacity. So that will get worse.

Traffic is also bad.
